The museum of folklore and art, located on the premises of the Paradise Hotel, was renovated in 1999 by Mr. Marios Vassilopoulos & Mrs Irene Mantzavelaki -Vassilopoulou, restoring an old ice factory which operated in Hora in the beginning of last century, until 1958 with the advent of electric refrigerators.

Planning, organizing and updating the museum exhibits and collections, was the folklore professor at the University of Athens, Zografou k. Katerina Korres-Zografou .

The building itself which houses the collections is of special importance, since it dates from the early 1900′s and the interior boasts many of the characteristics of Andros traditional architecture. (grey slate walls, etc.) The museum space covers 250m ² and is divided into two levels. On the upper level (The Marios Vassilopoulos Room) the visitor can view a selection of photographs covering Christian art of Andros (Andros painters of 18th century woodcuts and silver antiquities).

The lower level (The Irene Mantzavelaki – Vasilopoulou Room)  exhibits are from the typical the “Andros Home”, with some personal pieces  collected by the founder in addition to other items of interest and heirlooms.On the lower level visitors read excerpts from the studies of Professor Catherine Korres on Andros PRODUCTS & PROFESSIONS.

Το «ΜΟΥΣΕΙΟ ΛΑΟΓΡΑΦΙΑΣ & ΧΡΙΣΤΙΑΝΙΚΗΣ ΤΕΧΝΗΣ»
στη χώρα της Άνδρου, σας προσκαλεί το Σάββατο 6 Αυγούστου ,
στις 20:00 , στα εγκαίνια της Έκθεσης
«Η Ιστορία του Παιχνιδιού από την αρχαιότητα μέχρι σήμερα»
της συλλέκτριας κ. Καρακώστα Λαμπρινής.

Η συλλογή της κ. Λαμπρινής Κρακώστα αποτελείται από 2500 κομμάτια περίπου.
Θα εκτεθεί ένα μέρος της συλλογής με τις εξής ενότητες:

Αρχαίων & Βυζαντινών Ελλήνων παιχνίδια
Βικτωριανή Περίοδος
Περίοδος στις αρχές του αιώνα έως 1945
Το τσίγκινο παιχνίδι
Το παιχνίδι στην Τέχνη
Ανδριώτικο Παιχνίδι (Ιδιωτική Συλλογή)

Θα ακολουθήσει κέρασμα στην αυλή του μουσείου.
